Charles
R. Downey was raised in Austin and graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS
in Biology. Following completion of medical school in Temple, Texas, he entered
active duty in the US Army and began his training in OB/GYN at Brooke Army
Medical Center in San Antonio. He served in various locations around the world
including a 5-month tour in Baghdad, Iraq in 2003. After 10 years of service,
MAJ Downey was honorably discharged from the Army in 2004 and opened his
practice in Richardson.
Dr. Downey lives in Richardson with his wife and 3 children. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He enjoys many outdoor activities including golfing, bicycling, and running. The Downey's are active at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson.
Dr. Carol Norton, practically a native of Texas, attended college at Wellesley,
outside of Boston. She graduated from Duke University Medical School and
completed her residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
She has been practicing in Richardson, TX since 1999. While medicine is her
first love, she also enjoys SCUBA diving, reading, and writing.
Dr. Charmaine Gibson is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who is compassionate about women’s healthcare. She is a native of Texas and was raised in Temple, Texas. When she is not working, she enjoys staying active with her three children and traveling.
She completed her undergraduate education at Prairie View A&M University with honors and she attended University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio medical school. She completed her residency at Reading Hospital in Reading, PA where she received academic awards as well as awards for her minimally invasive skills and expertise.
She is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Her clinical interests include, but are not limited to, adolescent care, menopause, minimally invasive surgery, patient education, vaginal reconstruction, complicated pregnancies, and the overall 360 care of a woman. She is also invested in community outreach and serving Collin County and surrounding areas.
She is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to supporting you in a healthy life.
Cori Poovey is a certified Nurse Practitioner at Women's Health Associates. In
addition to working at Parklandís Womenís Clinic, she worked in emergency as
an R.N. for 9 years. She has had extensive training to become a certified nurse
practitioner and is qualified to evaluate patients and offer treatment. Her
skills allow us to offer an additional option for treatment as well as seeing
the physician.
Shirley is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Women's Health Associates of Richardson, serving patients in the greater Dallas area. Her focus is on comprehensive health care in all the stages of a woman's life, with a particular focus on wellness and disease prevention. She offers many different services for women, including women's wellness exams, pap smear tests, mammograms, and much more. If a serious problem is discovered, Shirley refers her patients to one of the highly experienced OB/GYNs at Women's Health Associates of Richardson.
Shirley is a graduate of Texas Woman's University in 2012. Following her graduation, she worked as an ICU nurse at Parkland Hospital. She completed her Master's Degree at Simmons University with a specialization in Family in 2018 and has worked in private practice since that time. She truly loves her job and her patients.
